Sugar Notch police chief dies at 38
Apr 11, 2018
Pelchar was 38. His death is not suspicious or due to an accident, Luzerne County Coronor Bill Lisman said, adding the cause of death remains pending further testing. Pelchar had been on medical leave for more than a year for injuries he sustained on the job, Mayor Sugar Notch Mayor Bill Davis said. Sgt. Joseph McGlynn is officer in charge and has been supervising the borough police department, which currently consists of McGlynn and a part-time officer, Davis said. Borough council will make decisions regarding the appointment of a new chief, Davis said. Pelchar was known to many as “Curly” and lived most of his life in Wilkes-Barre. He attended Meyers High School and graduated from the police academy in 2003. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Resurrection of the Lord, 35 Zerby Ave., Edwardsville. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Yvonne, and his son, Christopher M. Pelchar Jr.View Pelchar’s obituary ...
